Inverurie Academy’s creative arts staff and pupils have made an urgent appeal for an unusual prop.
They are on the hunt for a large, old-fashioned black handbag for their forthcoming production of Oscar Wilde’s comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.
The play is famed for its wit and trivial approach to Victorian Society.
Faculty head Jacqueline Campbell said: “We are delighted to be putting on a school show for the first time for some years. It is shaping up to be a great performance.
“Talented senior pupils are taking on the acting and we have sourced some excellent costumes. However, the handbag plays a crucial role in the plot and we need to find one that matches the script.”
Mrs Campbell added that it needs to be a black leather handbag with handles - large enough to fit a baby inside.
She said: “The play is set at the end of the 19th century so it needs to be quite old. If anyone has such a item and can lend it to us please contact me at the school.”
Mrs Campbell can be contacted on 01467 621655, or at Inverurie.email@example.com
The Inverurie Academy production is taking place on Thursday, November 8, and the following night at 7.30pm.
