North East Scotland College (NESCol) has teamed up with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to hold an afternoon and evening of construction workshops next week.
Anyone interested in exploring construction as a future career can drop in and try out various trade skills including brickwork, carpentry and joinery and painting and decorating.
The drop-in workshops will run from 3pm through until 7pm at the Fraserburgh Campus on Tuesday, June 9.
Kevin Bruce, curriculum quality manager at NESCol, said: “This is ideal for those who enjoy practical work and who have an interest in construction – whether at school, looking for work or possibly thinking about a change in career direction.
“The short workshops have been deliberately designed to provide a flavour of what’s involved.
“There’s no need to book - we will be running the workshops continuously into the evening and there will be plenty of College staff to answer questions and provide advice.”
The CITB, the largest provider of construction apprenticeships in Scotland, will be available to talk about current opportunities in the North-east.
Matthew Agnew, CITB apprenticeship officer, said: “The construction industry is thriving in North-east Scotland and there is a huge demand for new talent to fill the many jobs on offer from skilled craft roles to managerial and office based roles.”
All are welcome.
