East Garioch councillor Martin Ford was extremely impressed with the new Kintore Midmill School building when local councillors visited the site to see progress.

The councillors visited the site on Wednesday, July 13.

The main structure of the building is largely complete and internally, walls are in place and in some cases with their final finish.

Externally, paths and landscaping are partly completed. The building is expected to be finished around mid-autumn, ready for the school to be occupied from January 2017.

Cllr Ford said: “It is now possible to get a very good idea of how the new school will look when finished, both externally and internally.

“I have to say, the building is great and going to provide an excellent educational environment.

“The building gets a lot of natural light into it. The use of wood for walls in part of the school, and keeping that exposed so the whole wall – floor to ceiling – is a natural wood surface, gives a distinctive internal environment.

“The whole design is just first class. I’m sure the children who go to Midmill School will be very proud of their super new building.”
