AN ABERDEENSHIRE school is gearing up for a special celebration next month to mark its 10th anniversary.
Meldrum Academy opened its doors in August 2002 and the school has organised a series of events to celebrate the landmark occasion.
At the start of the session a photograph was taken featuring the entire school, with more than 1,000 pupils and staff lined up.
The Meldrum Academy Parent Council arranged a sell-out concert featuring Scotland’s finest traditional musicians, Phi Cunningham and Aly Bain.
The Parent Council have organised a special bottling of whisky with a label designed by its current S6 pupils
In addition. a group of parents, staff and friends of the school are sewing individual squares that will be stitched together to make a commemorative wall hanging to be unveiled at the Open Day.
There will be an Open Afternoon from 2.15-6pm on Friday, October 5, and Open Morning on Saturday, October 6, between 10am and 1pm
There will also be displays of photographs, newspaper articles, year books, school shows and end of term presentations.
Organisers are extending a warm invitation to current and former pupils, parents and members of the public.
On a sporting theme, the pupils will hold the Meldrum Academy Highland Games on Wednesday, October 10.
The school houses will compete in traditional and fun games for the 10th Anniversary Shield.
