Residents of Ellon and the surrounding areas will have the opportunity to visit the new Academy and Community Campus this Saturday, August 15.
The open day will take place between 9.30am and 3pm to allow members of the public to look around the site’s facilities before it opens its doors at the start of the school term.
Senior pupils and staff will be offering tours around the campus situated on Kellie Pearl Way on the open day.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
The £36 million campus was partially funded by the Scottish Futures Trust and the building has been under construction since 2013.
Community facilities that have been incorporated into the academy building include a 25 metre swimming pool with a smaller training pool, several sports halls, a fitness suite and a coffee bar.
A suite of rooms were also purpose built for the North East Scotland College Ellon Learning Centre which will offer a range of full and part-time courses including computing and beauty therapy.
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee, Councillor Alison Evison, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local residents to get their first glance at this brand new facility and find out more about the community activities that will be on offer.”
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, Councillor David Aitchison, said: “I hope visitors will enjoy this first chance to see the modern facilities for themselves and think about how to get involved in the activities that will be on offer.”
Services will stop at the Ellon Community Centre and Pool from August 15 to August 19 to allow the equipment to be taken to the new campus.
