More than 40 pupils from New Machar Primary School took part in a competition organised by Barratt Homes at the end of October.
Pupils from primaries six and seven were tasked with taking as many steps as possible as they walked to and from school in an effort to encourage children of all ages and their families to get active in their daily routine.
Barratt Homes’ competition also supported International Walk to School Month which took place in October.
The team at Barratt Homes were incredibly impressed with the enthusiasm of the pupils and they awarded Leannah, nine, and Ben, 10, the prize for achieving the highest number of steps.
Both children received a voucher for local sports shop DFS in Inverurie.
Sales Director at Barratt North Scotland, Mike Cowie, said: “It was great to see so many young people come together for this fantastic campaign.
“I hope that the competition has inspired more children to walk to school and that Leannah and Ben enjoy their well deserved prizes.”
Head Teacher at New Machar Primary School, Mr Rooke, said: “A high number of our pupils already walk to school but it is great to see the introduction of a challenge which really encourages the children and their families to consider the many benefits of walking and how they can incorporate this into their daily routine.”
