An Ellon church has shown its commitment to the community by launching a foodbank in a bid to support those who are in need.
City Church North have started up their own foodbank - Storehouse - before their Sunday services each week.
A ministry at City Church, Storehouse aims to be a practical support for the community by providing food for peoplethrough donations. Storehouse has already been running at City Church’s other base in Aberdeen city centre where they gave away nine tonnes of food parcels last year.
City Church North Site Pastor, Thomas Urquhart, said: ”When we launched in Ellon last September we were transporting our food donations into town but now feel given the amount we are getting each week, we should be offering this support locally - and hearing from the people who have joined the church, there is a need here for this kind of support.”
Since the Ellon church has started it regularly welcomes between 40 to 55 adults and children every week from a launch team of 22.
Mr Urguhart added: “We are looking forward to sharing the support of Storehouse in our local area and to be a practical support to families and individuals who are in need.”
City Church North services are held every Sunday at the Ellon Academy Annexe at 10.15am,
