Walkers are to be asked for their views on a new management plan for an Aberdeenshire woodland.

Den Wood, near Oldmeldrum, was acquired by the Woodland Trust Scotland in 1992 and over the years the charity has carried out a number of improvements.

These have included creating a path network and an informal car park.

Subject to funding and the feedback from woodland users, the Trust plans to resurface the paths and replace steps and boardwalks in 2017.

Site manager Jill Aiken said: “Den Wood is one of only a few accessible woodlands in the area.

“It’s popular with local dogwalkers and we want to continue to make improvements to benefit both visitors and wildlife.

“I’d really like to hear people’s views on the wood and our future plans for its management.”

Comments can be made on the management plan until February 4.
