Formartine’s fundraising stalwart Evelyn Cook is preparing for her final cycle challenge abroad for charity.
The Methlick grandmother will head to Malawi next month for a 300-mile trip over six days.
Evelyn, 76, recently completed her last Methlick Bike Ride, raising more than £1000 on the day for Nkhoma Hospital, which is east of Malawi’s capital Lilongwe. The final total should be known at the end of the month.
She said: “The bike ride was a success, apart from the weather.
“We had to brave gales but managed to raise £1000 on the day.”
Her final two-wheel fundraiser will be for the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society (EMMS) from July 3-12.
Evelyn, a grandmother of 11, said the challenge will definitely be her last.
It will be her 20th venture with EMMS over the last 17 years and her sixth in Malawi.
Meanwhile, Evelyn and Ellon Rotary Club member Hilary Gordon raised £280 from a meeting at Methlick Parish Church to update local people on how aid is being administered in Nepal following the devastating earthquakes.
Hilary has been heavily involved in local fundraising for quake victims.
Last year, along with other educational specialists, the retired head teacher visited Nepal to fund a vocational traing scheme.
Evelyn has raised money over the years for various projects in both Malawi and Nepal.
The Methlick Bike Ride last year was in support of a child and maternal health development in Nepal’s Dang district.
