A country emporium in rural Aberdeenshire has been awarded a five star Quality Assurance (QA) grading from VisitScotland.
The national tourist organisation awarded Kellockbank Country Emporium its five star tourist shop recognition. Situated 10-miles north of Inverurie on the A96 near Insch, the shop is in an ideal location for attracting passing trade as well as repeat loyal visitors.
Run by Marianne Bell, the shop features work by local painter Angela Davidson and also supports local artists wherever possible, sometimes running exhibitions with the featured artist in attendance, selling their work on the day.
The popular emporium – which sits in the shadow of Bennachie - houses a purpose-built garden centre, gift and coffee shop. It opened in 2004 and since then, has become a must-visit destination for shoppers, stocking Scottish wares and produce, including Dunoon Pottery.
VisitScotland works all year round to assess the standard of accommodation, visitor attractions and places to eat in Scotland. VisitScotland say that their five-star grading schemes helps visitors and enjoy the best that Scotland has to offer.
