SNP North East MSP Mark McDonald has donated £500 to the Daviot Village Hall Campaign after a meeting with with Kay Diack and Diane Scott from the Village Hall during his Aberdeenshire surgery tour.
A campaign is underway to replace the ageing and dilapidated village hall with a modern facility. The campaign aims to raise £445,000 and has thus far raised £298,000.
Campaigners are seeking a mixture of large and small donations and are offering donors who give more than £25 a chance to have their name displayed on an acrylic plaque.
Mr McDonald made the donation as part of his pledge to donate his council wage to voluntary groups and charities.
On receiving the cheque, Kay Diack said: “Daviot Village Hall is delighted to receive £500 from Mark McDonald MSP as a Sandstone gift for our recently launched Keystone Campaign .
“We aim to build a new village hall in 2012 and have so far raised £298,000 from a number of local individuals, local businesses and grant awarding bodies.’
