A local woman has been presented with a Gold Discovery Award.

Mrs Cherry Morrison is a member of the Gordon Trefoil Guild.

She was presented with her award at the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie on Thursday, March 22.

The Discovery Award is a series of achievement challenges, for the over 50’s, set at bronze, silver and gold standard under Service in the Community, Recreational pursuit, Hobby or Interest and a Journey of Discovery.

Each participant sets their own challenges.

Cherry said: “There is no maximum time to be spent exploring new challenges only a stipulated minimum time. And if, like me you try lace making, it can take a long, long time to produce a sizeable piece of work, you can display.”

Cherry worked with the Camphill Medical Trust in the Blue Door Charity Shop.

She provided flower arrangements and garden tubs at Camphill, and teas and home bakes for the elderly in the St. Devenick’s Heritage Hall at Culter.

Her new interests include Computer Studies, Gardening, Indoor Bowling, Lacemaking, Keep Fit and Tai Chi.
