FOLLOWING the magnificent display of fireworks at Fyvie Castle’s 800th birthday celebrations, Fireworx Scotland went on to compete at the British Fireworks Championships held in Plymouth.
Mark Copeland, owner of the company made the long and costly trip down to Plymouth after the Fyvie Live event to be the only Scottish representative to compete at the national championships, held over two nights on Augst 16 and 17.
After competing in this year’s finals, Mark Copeland, said: “We last competed in 2008. We didn’t get placed but we’ve come up in the ranks because we got third place this time.”
Finalists are not only judged on display, but also on paperwork – they must show plans and adhere to the rules as well as demonstrate site safety and site maintenance.
Mark received a cash prize for his win, which he said was enough to recover the fuel. The British Firework Championships are held in Plymouth each year.
