Charity champion, Inverurie postman Graham Watson is in the final throes of organising the 10th Annual Inverurie Charity Darts Competition in aid of Breast Cancer Care Scotland.

This years’ event will take place at the Hopeville Social Club, Harlaw Road, Inverurie on Saturday May 23. Registration is open up until 1.30pm on the day. The Mens Competition is £8 to enter with a top prize of £250, while the Ladies Competition is £7 to enter with a top prize of £160 to the winner. As this year marks the 10th Anniversary of the competition, Graham has requested that people come along in fancy dress (but is not compulsory) and there will be a cash prize for the Best Fancy Dress.

Graham said, “This event was only meant to be for one year way back in 2006 to raise funds for my convoy trip to Ukraine with the Communications Workers Union Humanitarian Aid Charity but because of all the support I have received over the years from everyone that sponsors to each and everyone who comes along every year I have just had to carry on and have since raised money for numerous charities including Breast Cancer Care Scotland.”

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone but especially my wife Marlene because without her understanding and support I couldn’t do all my fundraising”

Nicholas White, Head of Breast Cancer Care Scotland, said, “Every year in Scotland, around 4,500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. We want to be there for each and every one of them. We’re so grateful to Graham for all the hard work he has put in to organising this event over the last ten years. The funds raised will help Breast Cancer Care Scotland make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of women waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day. Thank you Graham! The money Graham raises will go towards Breast Cancer Care Scotland’s vital support services, such as our information points in hospitals and face to face services for anyone facing breast cancer, as well as their friends and families.”
