North East SNP MSP Mark McDonald recently visited the Gemini project in Inverurie, an initiative with Barnardo’s Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Aberdeenshire Council and NHS Grampian.
Mr McDonald held discussions with Melanie Stone (Children’s Service Manager) and Lorna Mulholland (Acting Assistant Director) to find out more about the service that is provided.
Gemini works with young people from Aberdeenshire between 12 and 18 years who use drugs and alcohol, providing a support link to help show them the impact it has on their lives. Gemini offers these young people the opportunity to find out more about drugs and alcohol and offers strategies to help reduce their use. Commenting after his visit, Mr McDonald said: “The friendly and informative support offered to the young people of Aberdeenshire through this project is vital to help users see a way out and work towards focusing on and achieving their life goals.”
