Both of Davidsons’ stores are Q Guild status, two of only three Q Guild butchers shops in Aberdeen and Aberdeensire.

The Inverurie business is one of three regional finalists along with S Collins & Son in Muirhead, Glasgow, and John Lawson Butchers & Delicatessen in Uphall, West Lothian. All three regional finalists are members of the Q Guild of Butchers.

The Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards are organised by the Meat Trades Journal and now that regional finalists have been shortlisted, judges will be hitting the road to pick out the best businesses in the trade for 2014. Winners will be announced on Friday, November 14, at a presentation ceremony in the Rosewood London Hotel.

Ed Bedington, editor of Meat Trades Journal, said: “This year saw a great response from a strong field of contenders from across the UK. It’s a real pleasure to see some of the great businesses out there and how well the sector is doing. It’s a great window onto the market and how butchers shops throughout the UK are performing.”
