Maizie Fraser, aged 4, who attends Alehousewells Nursery in Kemnay, was representing Inverurie at the ModelScotland UK contest that was held in the Ponds Hotel, Glasgow on Sunday, (March 2).

Maizie’s mum, Kimberley told the Herald: “She did so well for being only 4 and half, she didn’t want me to help her with anything, and she wanted me to just stay in the dressing room so she could do everything herself.

“Before Maizie got to the semi-finals we had to travel down a few weeks ago for an interview as part of the selection process.

“Although it is a pageant, the girls all have to be natural and hair up in tight buns, no make up or tanning are permitted in anyway, and the competition is based more on personality rather than looks.”

Support on the night came from Mum and Dad, brother, Torin and a very proud Grandma.

Kimberley added: “It was a really good night, and Maizie loved every minute of the event, and she says she might go back again next year, as it is an annual event.”

If for any reason that the winner of the event has to step down, Maizie would take her place. She came home with a sash, two crowns, flowers and two presents.

Organisers of the contest ModelScotland say “Scotland Cutest Kids Contest is a beauty competition with strong values and firm beliefs. It’s a competition that has no sizing, no weight or height restrictions or ethnic boundaries. We simply want the girls and boys to be happy about themselves and to enjoy this wonderful experience.” Organisers say that the object is about “empowering kids”.
