BANFF & Buchan MP Eilidh Whiteford has congratulateda talented local poet.
Magnus Dixon of Cruden Bay won the Foyle’s Young Poets of the Year Award in October, beating 13,000 other entries from 80 countries worldwide.
The victory represents a hat-trick for Magnus, who has now won the competition an astonishing three years in a row.
In recognition of this achievement, Eilidh presented Magnus with a signed letter of congratulation from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Commenting on his achievement, Eilidh said: “It’s an amazing achievement, and the fact that he’s managed to do it three times now is testimony to a real growing talent.”
As part of his prize, Magnus will go on to attend a week-long residential course to further develop his writing skills, as well as ongoing support from the Poetry Society.
