Aberdeenshire Sports Council awards evening is being held at the Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie, on Friday, March 20.
More than 200 people are expected to attend the popular annual event.
Last year the guest of honour was Katherine Grainger, the 2012 Olympic double sculls champion.
Katherine received a Special Achievement award jointly from Alan Still, the sports council chairman, and Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster.
Organisers say the evening is a way of rewarding and acknowledging local sports people in the area for their commitment to and/or achievement in sport during 2014 (or in the case of the Service to Sport category over many years).
More than 50 nominations were received for last year’s awards. All nominees will receive a certificate to recognise their contribution to sport.
In the post 2014 Commonwealth Games it is seen as a great opportunity for clubs and other organisations to recognise the sports talent in their midst, to give local sports people and volunteers the acknowledgement they deserve, and also to show the wealth of sporting talent which is evident in the area.
Aberdeenshire-based athletes who took part in the Glasgow Games and can attend will receive a Legacy Medal from Aberdeenshire Sports Council. It was felt fitting to recognise their selection in a home games.
Nominations are now being accepted for the nine categories. Closing date is the 27th February.
