A major celebration will take place in Methlick later this month.
The 10th birthday of the village’s community garden will be marked on Saturday, September 26, and organisers are hosting a Macmillan coffee morning.
The event will run from 10am until noon and will have a party atmosphere.
Community garden chair Liz Allan said there have been many changes to the garden over the last couple of years.
She explained: “This has been thanks to the generosity of several local companies and the community payback service team.
“The work they have put in has been amazing and it has transformed the garden.
“Scotframe donated a generous quantity of timber which the community payback team used to clad our rather sad looking portacabin, transforming it into a rather smart cabin in the woods.”
The former Haddo quarry site was donated to the group in early 2005 by Haddo Estate and Lord Aberdeen will be a special guest at the 10th birthday celebrations.
Liz added: “We are delighted that Lord Aberdeen has kindly agreed to come along to kick off the celebrations and to say an official thank you to all who have given their time, materials and support.
“Please come along and raise a teacup in a birthday toast to the garden, and in support of the fantastic Macmillan cause.”
The birthday party will feature teas, coffees, homebakes, raffles and stalls.
All proceeds from the event will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The community garden project in Methlick has been developed in partnership with the Formartine Partnership, the Resource Centre, Ellon, and various community groups in the Methlick area.
