Appeal for Middleton Trust event sponsors

Organisers of the Middleton Trust 3k Fun Run are appealing for sponsorship.

This year will mark the popular event’s 20th anniversary and the run takes place on September 6.

Trustees are in the process of contacting as many companies in the area as they can to find out if they will provide some form of sponsorship so that the landmark occasion can be particularly special.

Trust chairman Ean Mackie said: “We realise that companies are targeted all the time for financial support and although we would be delighted for a company to say ‘we will provide you with £3000 sponsorship’, we know that is unlikely to happen especially at this particular time.

“But if a number of firms were prepared to provide say £30-£50 or even £100 each it would all add up to a sizeable sum.

“It would therefore enable the Trust to look into the possibility of providing T-shirts, baseball caps, and water bottles to each person taking part in the 3k.

“It would mean they wouldn’t only walk away with their medal as normal but something else which would remind them of the fact they took part in the 20th event.”

Mr Mackie added that the Trust are also considering trying to contact all those who have previously won the event to see if they will come along on the day of the event, if not to take part, then at least to be in attendance.

The Trust was set up in 1990 to promote the activity and performance of sporting talent in young people under 18, who are resident in Ellon and the surrounding area.

The 3k starts in Gordon Park and takes runners around the Meiklemill estate before finishing in the park.

Closing date for entries is August 30 and organisers point out there will be no entries on the day.
