A canine fun day in Aberdeenshire has been rated a huge success.

Dog Action Working Group Scotland (DAWGS) held its annual Day in the Country at Haddo House on Sunday.

The charity finds new homes throughout the North-east for dogs whose owners can no longer take care of them.

It has helped to rehome more than 3000 animals since it was set up 20 years ago.

The event was organised by Lynn Paterson, whose husband Ian is currently chairman of the charity.

Lynn said: “It was a very successful day.

“The event is really about raising awareness. People tend to think that we are just in Aberdeen but we cover the whole of the North-east.”

Activities at Haddo included fun dog shows, children’s activities and entertainment - something for all the family.

DAWGS raised £500 to help with the care of an injured greyhound which is being looked after by Maud-based Give a Greyhound a Home (GAGAH).

A cheque was presented to Liz Jones, who is looking after Millie until a permanent home can be found.

Meanwhile, all proceeds from the Haddo event will help fund the charity’s re-homing service.
