Explaining, Scott Norval from Newmachar said: “After a number of years of gentle persuasion and hinting, I finally plucked up the courage to propose. Nicola, who is from Aberdeen city, has always wanted me to take her for a picnic to the top of Bennachie, as she had never been before.
“After the odd push and shove, I managed to get her to the top. Little did she know I roped my best mate into video recording us all the way up from behind bushes and trees.
“My rucksack was heavy with sandwiches and a bottle of champagne and after our picnic we made our way down to the car park and bagan to make our way home.”
To continue the surpirse, Scott pulled into Pittodrie House for a “wee lookie” at a possible wedding venue but unknown by Nicola, had pre-booked dinner, bed and breakfast. Continuing he said: “The Pittodrie House staff played along with the “fake visit” and gave us a tour of the house and grounds.”
Following the surprise weekend, Nicola entered them into Northsound 1’s “win your wedding” competition. Having got to the final 20 competitors, the couple were asked to pitch an idea for a fund raising event to raise as much money for Cash for Kids as possible.
Elaborating, Scott said: “We have now been informed that we have made it through the final five couples. To win the competition we need to raise the most amount of money during a period finishing on Tuesday, May 8.
“We can now confirm a Wedding Exhibition extravaganza at the Hilton Double Tree hotel on Sunday, May 6. Many companies have already confirmed that they will take part, from floral companies and cake makers to photographers and kilt hire. A catwalk showcasing bridal and bridesmaid dresses, as well as men’s wear will also take place with a live DJ. Hair stylists, make-up consultants and beauty therapists will be on site offering 10-15 minute appointments and advice.
“There really is too much to mention but as well as all this there will be a number of fun, couple related games where brides and grooms “to be” can work together or challenge each other to win prizes. Children are also catered for with a bouncy castle, face painting and much much more.”
