Line-up announced for Taste of Grampian 2015

Connections’ event held at ANM Group’s Porterhouse restaurant at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. The event will once again be organised by Aberdeen-based company Prime Events.

A great day out for all the family, this popular annual event traditionally features a feast of food, fun and entertainment and allows visitors to discover, sample and purchase the wide range of high quality food and drink from Grampian in the North East of Scotland.

Taste of Grampian, now in its sixteenth year, attracts a crowd of more than 14,000 visitors. The programme includes stalls from local producers, music, entertainment, arts and crafts, cookery demonstrations and competitions, beer and wine marquees, and the celebrity chef line-up and special guests will ensure a fun packed day for all. Visitors can watch Celebrity Chefs give advice and prepare delicious dishes with fresh, local ingredients in our indoor and outdoor cookery areas.

A typical local street market environment will be created to purchase delicious ‘street food’ style dishes. A relaxing beer garden, Brewfest, a new attraction to 2015, will allow visitors to sample and buy a delicious range of locally sourced draft and bottled beers, gins, whiskeys and wines.

The Seafood Pavilion is back again this year, now created as an outdoor traditional fish market experience, and will host a mixture of local seafood producers and fishmongers carrying out cookery demonstrations.

The one-day event will also feature a craft marquee, comprising of over 30 stalls showcasing Grampians finest arts and crafts from homemade soap to handmade jewellery, as well as the Press & Journal Motor Show displaying the latest models.

The festival features several competitions to get local communities involved. The ‘Aspiring Young Chef’ competition, sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland and judged by award-winning cook and food writer, Lady Claire Macdonald, is designed around The Future of Food is open to young people aged 16-19. Applicants must create a two course menu comprising of a main course and dessert, using as much local produce as possible. Those shortlisted will prepare and cook their bespoke recipes prior to the event and the two finalists will battle it out on the day to determine the winner.

Title sponsor, JG Ross, is running a children’s baking competition whereby two finalists will bake alongside their mentors, Nancy Birtwhistle (Winner of The Great British Bake Off 2014) along with fellow contestant Norman Calder. The lucky winner will then have their winning bake sold in all JG Ross bakeries. The ever-popular Primary School Packed Lunch competition will also feature over 40 entries from local schools.
