Renovation work on Inverurie Post Office
Inverurie’s main Post Office is currently undergoing extensive renovation work as the business continues to grow.
The Post Office, located on the town’s West High Street, has been undergoing work since the beginning of last month and it is hoped all of the remodelling will be completed by December.
Owners of the Post Office, Rory and Kat Will, took over the business in March last year and have been busy transforming it to include a wide range of services and products.
Rory said: “There was pressure that it might move away but I think it is important we keep the Post Office in the town centre.
“There are many different people that I am meeting and it is good to be in a position that I can help.
“It is rewarding trying to help them out.
He added: “The challenge of working here is adapting to anything.
“But the staff keep me right.”
As part of their ongoing renovation work to their business, Rory and Kat have recently announced longer opening hours for the Post Office on a Saturday in which it will be open from 9am to 5.30pm, in-keeping with the opening hours during week days.
Rory and Kat are also planning to convert part of the old Post Office into a coffee shop with access through to the Post Office as soon as they are able to.
The coffee shop will further add to the services the family provide for the town as Will Chemists next door to the Post Office was originally started up by Rory’s father, Ian Will, and it is now run by Rory’s brother following Ian’s retirement.
Rory plans to be fully involved with the coffee shop as well as the Post Office.
He said: “Ideally I will be doing less on the counter and more on the floor.
“Once the changes are made and people come to the Post Office and realise there is that extra variety of services.
“I hope that the new Post Office and retail space does service the needs of those in town.”
