A 25-year-old from Oyne has been chosen as the winner of the UK Plumber of the Year 2016 competition.
Shaun Scott travelled to Tamworth to attend a final interview session with four other finalists where the challenge was to impress an industry judging panel.
Shaun, who has been a plumbing engineer for nine years, impressed the judging panel with his determination, skill-set and vision for the future.
He impressed the judges in a variety of ways, particularly demonstrating a recent bathroom restoration project, where he was able to refurbish a challenging 90-year-old bathroom for a client who was told it wasn’t worth the effort.
His dedication to complete the challenge paid dividends despite obvious logistical problems and he managed to complete the project to the delight of a very happy client.
As well as the honour of becoming the second-ever UK Plumber of the Year, Shaun takes home £10,000 worth of prizes, including JT and Bristan products, vouchers to spend at his nearest Plumb Center and products from Arctic, Big Wipes, CAT, CK Tools, Epson, Milwaukee, Monument, PayPal, Regin, Rothenberger and Toolbank.
Shaun, who works for Derek Scott Plumbing Limited in Insch, said: “It’s an absolute honour to be named the UK Plumber of the Year.
“I really enjoyed the whole process, from completing the initial application form, gathering votes from my community and the final interview stage, which was nerve wracking, but a fantastic experience.
“I’d also like to thank the sponsors and prize partners for their generous support.”
