The Scottish Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidate for West Garioch at the forthcoming council elections.
Former councillor Hazel Smith will contest the ward on May 4.
The mother-of-three has served on the Social Work and Housing Committee, Police Board and various voluntary organisations.
Since 2012, she has continued with her interest in voluntary and community matters and is currently chair of Kemnay Community Council.
The Kemnay resident said: “I have lived and worked in this local area for more than thirty years and have brought up my family here.
“Having enjoyed the many advantages of living in the area and being a former councillor for West Garioch, I believe I have the experience and knowledge to be a positive and informed voice to represent residents’ concerns.”
“There are many issues affecting our settlements both large and small from Insch and Oyne to Old Rayne, Whiteford, Auchleven, Chapel of Garioch, Pitcaple and Meikle of Wartle. All of them need a strong and committed councillor working for them round the clock.”
