The SNP has announced that it will be standing two candidates in the Inverurie & District ward at the forthcoming local government elections.
Local members have reselected Councillor Bryan Stuart, who will be joined by former Aberdeenshire Council Director of Education & Recreation, Hamish Vernal.
Speaking after his selection, Councillor Stuart, who was elected in 2007, said that it had been a “privilege” to be the first SNP councillor to represent Inverurie & District on Aberdeenshire Council.
“At this election, we have the opportunity to replace the current tired Liberal Democrat led administration with a new SNP administration which will bring fresh thinking to issues like parking charges, how we help our town centres survive and thrive, and how we make decision-making more local and more accountable”, he said.
Mr Vernal, who is also Chair of ‘Inverurie Events’, said that it was “an honour” to have been nominated and selected, and that he believed both he and Cllr Stuart would be an effective team for Inverurie on Aberdeenshire Council. “There is a lot of work to be done for the town and I hope to get the opportunity to contribute”, he said.
