Roads closed due to flooding

One south-bound lane on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverurie has been closed due to flooding.

The decision was made to close the road as a consequence of water coming from the U53c Chapel of Stoneywood to Newton Kirkhill Road (the back road beside Marshall Trailers on the A96 down into Dyce Drive). This road has been closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.

It is also expected that Culter Burn will come out of its channel during this period of persistent rain, and Aberdeen City Council has taken the precautionary decision to deliver sandbags to the Millside and Paddock area of Peterculter.

The sandbags are for residents to collect and use to protect their properties, ie to seal doors and vents. It is unlikely that flooding will take place but sandbags were considered to be a sensible precaution.
