Ellon Rotarians have held the first of two collections of used and unwanted tool equipment to send to Africa.
The club’s international committee is working in conjunction with the small UK-based charity Tools For Self Reliance (TFSR) to refurbish and send tools and unwanted spectacles to Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
The charity concentrates on providing implements for the more impoverished areas.
They are initially sorted and refurbished at Camphill Rudolph-Steiner Schools workshop in Aberdeen before being packed by final year special needs students and sent to TFSR’s collection depot, then dispatched to Africa.
Ellon Rotary Club held its first collection day at the Tesco car park and another will be held on Saturday, April, 12, at the same venue from 10am until 1pm.
Collections can be arranged by calling 01358 723095 or 07580348915.
