A local non-profit organisation run solely by volunteers who foster and re-home ex-racing Greyhounds and ex-working Lurchers received over £1k through the Santa Paws Appeal.
Volunteers of Give a Greyhound a Home (GAGAH) were presented with a total of £1,512.11 at Pets at Home in Inverurie on Sunday, February 11.
The Santa Paws appeal ran in the Inverurie pet store before Christmas and each 50p raised contributed towards a Christmas dinner for a homeless animal.
GAGAH volunteer, Steph Gravell, said: "The team at Pets at Home had set themselves a hefty target of selling 5,000 Christmas dinners, which they surpassed, selling an amazing 5,997 dinners.
"Volunteers from GAGAH attended with dogs to help increase the total amount raised, and the attention shown to the dogs was amazing."
A spokesperson from Support Pets For Adoption, who ran the appeal in Pets at Home stores across the UK, said: "An incredible 2,920,622 dinners were donated in store during the Christmas Appeal. It really is everyone’s favourite event, raising over £1.4 million.
