After a year’s break, Grampian Country Fair is set to be bigger and better, and this year’s event, which once again features the stars of Emmerdale, will take place at Fyvie Castle on Saturday, June 9.

Here to officially launch the event, which this year supports the inspirational charity ‘Inspire’ is Chris Chitell, who flew in especially to pay a visit to Inspire Soap, before the formal launch at Fyvie Castle last week.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the charity which offers opportunities for an excellent quality of life to people with learning disabilities and additional support needs here in the North-east. Inspire’s vision is to empower people’s life choices and achieve it by offering a wide range of services that empower people of all ages to lead fulfilled lives and reach their potential.

The event is set to be the most fantastic family day out ever, with fun, entertainment, daredevil activities and food fit for a King.

Speaking about the charity while making soap, Chris Chitell said: “It says it all in the name ‘Insprire’ - we all need a little help, but these guys are helping themselves to have extra quality of life and to build self-esteem, and, they have a wicked sense of humour.”

Head of Business Development at Inspire, Fiona Poustie said: “Being the charity to benefit from this event is absolutely fantastic. It will help us to boost income and help to further develop new services like Inspired Soap.

“The people that come here to work are a great group. They are really enthusiastic and they are involved in every aspect of soap making from research, to weighing all the ingredients, designing the packaging and they are also involved in the sales and marketing.“

Event organiser George Walker, of George Walker Events, which has raised about £2 1/2 million over the last decade said his company had supported a lot of cancer charities over the years, and added: “I think it’s a good link - soap factory and soap opera, it’s quirky, and the Emmerdale cast are very excited to be supporting this group.” Jokingly he added: “It’s the first time Chris has seen a bar of soap in years.”
