Proposals by Stagecoach to increase the number of buses on the A947 have been welcomed by councillors representing Newmachar and Oldmeldrum.
Between Oldmeldrum and Aberdeen, the company is working on a new timetable which will see service frequency increased from half-hourly to every 15 minutes off-peak, and every 20 minutes at peak times.
Service 35 between Aberdeen and Elgin will continue to run via Foresterhill and miss out Union Terrace. The new Service 35A, alternating with the 35, between Oldmeldrum and Aberdeen will operate via Great Northern Road and Berryden and serve Union Terrace.
East Garioch Councillor Martin Ford said he welcomed the proposals for a much-improved service for Newmachar.
He added: “While I understand Stagecoach have not finalised their plans, I have seen their draft timetable.
“Through the day, Newmachar would have a bus every 15 minutes to and from Aberdeen. So the new proposals do not just give a better frequency of service, they also reinstate direct buses between Newmachar and Berryden and allow for getting on and off at Union Terrace. All of these benefits will be welcomed.”
Mid-Formartine Councillor Paul Johnston said: “A better bus service between Oldmeldrum and Aberdeen, serving more places in the city, is really good news.”
