They are advised to take action now as it will make outdoor areas easier to maintain when spring arrives.

Jeyes, the UK’s leading outdoor cleaning specialist, offers some top tips on how to keep your garden looking at its best this autumn.

Firstly, you should give your lawn some TLC as it can be affected by low temperatures. Make sure you rake the fallen leaves and dispose of them as they can prevent light and air getting to your lawn.

Secondly, it is worth cleaning out your greenhouse as it it helps to prevent pests from hibernating and leaping into action in the spring.

Thirdly, remove all dirt, algae and mildew from all hard surfaces such as paths, patios and paving to make sure they are sparkling clean.

Don’t forget the furniture either! If you’ve spent the summer relaxing in the garden or entertaining friends and family don’t forget to give your garden furniture a good clean.

And finally, plant away ... this autumnal weather allows you to plant and move shrubs and trees without having to worry about their survival. Shrubs that are planted now will get off to a flying start next spring as they will have had the weather to settle in.
