DETAILS have been announced of the ever popular Variety Special, to be held in Inverurie Town Hall on Saturday, April 14, in support of the Meningitis Research Foundation.
This year will be the 53rd Variety Special and organisers say it promises to be one of the best yet.
Topping the bill will be the 2011 winner of ITV’s “Britain’s Got Talent”, Jai McDowall. Jai, who is originally from Tarbolton in Ayrshire, won the fifth series of the popular show last year.
Fundraising co-ordinator, Michael Jamieson said, “It’s fantastic we’ve been able to secure an artiste such as Jai. It’s quite a coup for us to persuade him to make the trip to a venue like the Inverurie Town Hall. But of course we mustn’t forget that we also have a fantastic line-up of local talent, proving that the North East has talent too!”
As always with a Variety Special local talent plays an important part. Making their debut in a Variety Special are: Inverurie’s songstress Valerie Chapman, Scottish fiddle champion Emma Simpson and the Variety Special Highland Dancers. The Danscentre performance group and Aberdeen City Boys Choir are also appearing for the first time along with teenage accordion maestro Gregor Allan. Completing the cast are bothy ballad stalwarts Alan and Eoin Taylor from Alford and comedy impressionist Steve Tandy who has made numerous TV appearances in the likes of “New Faces” “The Comedians” and “Who Do You Do?”.
Michael added, “We’ve been staging these shows for many years now and are delighted that they still prove to be popular with seats already being booked up, so to avoid disappointment I would advise to book tickets sooner rather than later.”
To book tickets contact Michael Jamieson on 07927 050536. For those living within the boundaries of Inverurie there is a delivery service straight to the door. A postal booking system is also available.
