Woman killed in North-east crash

A woman has died in a road crash in Aberdeenshire.

The two-vehicle accident happened on the A952 near the Toll of Birness at 7.35 on Monday morning.

A man was also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The crash involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a Volvo XC90 and took place at 7.35am. Ambulance and fire crews were in attendance.

The road has reopened after investigations were carried out at the scene.

Sergeant Rob Warnock, of Aberdeenshire and Moray’s Road Policing Unit said: “Sadly, I can confirm that a woman has died as a result of the two-vehicle collision on the A952 at the Toll of Birness this morning.

“The road would have been busy with traffic at the time and we are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who witnessed the collision to call us on 101.”
