A youth on work placement has died following an industrial accident in Inverurie.
Michael McLean, 17, from Kincorth in Aberdeen, was discovered unconscious at Denholm Macnamee in the town’s business park last Friday.
His life support machine was switched off at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Michael, a pupil at Kincorth Academy, had been on the final day of a summer placement.
His father, Mark, a first aider who also works for the oil services firm, was called to help after his son was found on the floor of the premises and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Scans revealed Michael had virtually no brain activity and severe damage to his spine. His life support was turned off earlier this week after Mark and wife Angela had maintained a bedside vigil.
The teenager had been due to return to school to start sixth year.
A company spokesman said they had been devastated by the tragedy. A Health and Safety Executive investigation is continuing.
