It was an eventual day in Lochaber on Saturday against Fort William with Inverurie Locos looking to bounce back from morale sapping home defeats by Turriff Utd and Buckie Thistle and they were up against it at the start playing a side having recorded a number of recent wins.

The big turning point in the game came after only 20 minutes when home teenage keeper Robin Harvey brought Andy Hunter brought down in the box.

A penalty was awarded, a red card shown by referee
Craig Walker for a last man offence.

With no replacement keeper on the bench, striker Michael Ellis took his place between the sticks, but he could not stop Martin BAVIDGE from scoring from the spot. Ex-Clach midfielder Martin LAING doubled the visitors’ advantage after half an hour.

Lewis Campbell replaced Ellis between the sticks at half-time. Two second half goals from HUNTER, another from the prolific BAVIDGE taking him up to the 24 mark for the season and one from Kieran ADAMS completed the scoring.

A big added bonus for Locos was the 18 minute appearance as a substitute of combative midfielder Mark Souter. “Soapy” broke his leg playing against Brora Rangers at the end of August and has worked tirelessly to get match fit again in recent weeks.
