Colony hit for six in Cup exit

Colony Park were beaten 6-0 in the Scottish Junior Cup third round by Eastern Superleague team Carnousie Panmure.

In front of a good crowd at Laing Park, Carnoustie, the home side took an early lead in the first minute when the ball was deflected into the path of Kevin Milne who ran through on goal and slotted the ball into the net.

Colony almost equalised on seven minutes when McDonald hit the post from an acute angle. A minute later Bonarius shot over the bar.

Colony continued to push forward but in 16 minutes they failed to halt a run by Myles the Carnoustie right back and after being allowed to run into the box he passed the ball to Milne who placed the ball in the corner of the Colony Park net.

A minute later Josh Perera capitalised on a mistake by Duguid to score from close range.

Four minutes later following an excellent move by Carnoustie Milne scored his hat-trick to give Carnoustie Panmure a four-goal lead after twenty minutes. A minute later Duguid was substituted and Grant Sim went in goal for Colony Park.

After this Colony Park settled down and managed to ensure that no more goals were scored by Carnoustie before half time, although only a brilliant save by Sim prevented a fifth goal near to half time.

Colony managed to force a couple of corners towards the end of the half when Strachan had attempts blocked.

A minute later Bissett replaced Robinson for Colony. Sim then made a good save while in 67 minutes Colony came close to scoring when a Bissett lob hit the bar.

In 70 minutes Panmure increased their lead when a poor pass back allowed Steven Cook the opportunity to score and he placed the ball into the net.

Carnoustie almost added a seventh two minutes later but Sim made a great stop but the fall fell to Cook whose shot hit the post. In 76 minutes Kevin Bonarius saw red after he received a second yellow card.

There was little significant action after this leaving Carnoustie Panmure comfortable winners and they go through to the fourth round.

Colony Park are away to Gentanar in the PMac Group Div 1 (East) on Saturday. Kick off 1.30pm.
