Matty McDonald (9) nets the opening goal for Colony Park Juniors on Saturday

AFTER a hard fought match, Colony Park Juniors came out on top in their second round Scottish Junior Cup against Lewis United.

On 10 minutes new loan signing Robinson, on the right, slipped a nice pass to Matty MCDONALD in the Lewis 18 yard box and the latter struck a great shot into the net to give Colony Park the lead.

McDonald came close to adding a second goal six minutes later but as he slid in a the back post he was just unable to reach an excellent low cross from Strachan.

On the half hour Robinson produced a clever flick which opened the play for Bonarius whose shot was well saved by the home keeper.

At the start of the second half Lewis United looked to have equalised a shot from the right flashed towards goal but found the side netting. A few minutes later Strachan had a shot over the bar.

In 64 minutes Colony Park extended their lead. An excellent move featuring Pugh and McDonald was completed by Jack STRACHAN who shimmied past a couple of defenders and placed the ball into the net giving Park a two goal lead and effectively sealed the result.

A minute later Colony were unlucky not to add further to their lead when a Graffan shot was superbly touched on to the post by the Lewis keeper who was able to dive on to the rebound before McDonald could get to it.

Colony Park remained on top through to the end of the match with further efforts from Dorrat and Brown but they could not not add to their lead.

This Saturday Colony return to league action with Buchanhaven Hearts the visitors to Colony Park.
