Colony Park weekend round-up

Colony Locos were at Portlethen to face Aberdeen FHS.

Friday, 13th March 2015, 6:00 am

Kicking uphill into the wind a Chris Hay free kick was shinned in for an own goal and HAY made it 2-0 five minutes later lifting a ball over the keeper. FHS pulled one back before Joe BURR restored the lead with a drilled shot from a tight angle for a 3-1 half time lead. The second half was pretty much one-way traffic with further goals from Phil WOODGREAVES, Rhys SIMPSON and a brace from Joe McCABE for a comfortable 7-1 victory and extending their league lead to six points but facing a tough task next weekend at Stonehaven.

Colony Colts U19s lost out 2-1 to local rivals Echt on the road in the league.

Colony Park U17s were at home to local rivals Formartine in the league.

Colony Park were always on top but struggled to make the final pass count, but they got their break when Craig Mackie released Fraser Gill on the left and he delivered a cross into the box for Mike DONALDSON to knock in. Within two minute Colony went further in front when a long clearance from Fin Mathers release MACKIE and he ran 30 yards before rounding the keeper and slotted home with his left.

On 50 minutes Mark Aitken drove through midfield and released Dale Rennie who rolled the ball into the 6 yard box for DONALDSON to tap in. However it wasn’t a done deal for Colony when with 15 minutes to go Formartine won a penalty and scored to make it 3-1. With 12 minutes remaining Mackie played in AITKEN and he scored a peach of a goal from 25 yards. In the dying minutes Colony wrapped up the match when Mackies 30 yard pass found Josh Proud on the left, he cut it back to MACKIE who hit an unstoppable 25 yard left foot drive into the corner for a 5-1 scoreline

Colony Park U16s were at home to neighbours Dyce Locos in their first clash of the season.

Some slack defending and strong running by the Locos front line saw the visitors take the lead through Dylan CLARK and Colony’s confidence was knocked when a second followed from Cameron WATT shortly after.

Early into the second half Colony conceded a soft penalty allowing Locos to extend their lead as keeper Wiseman was sent the wrong way from the spot by Cammy BURROWS. A headed own goal gave Colony an opportunity to reduce the deficit but it was restored when a fierce strike after a good run by Jamie LIND left Wiseman with no chance. Morgan COOK took advantage of a defensive mistake to take the score to 4-2.

Colony Park U15s were in action in the league at Peterhead and on a very difficult playing surface ran out 5-1 winners with Adam SMITH and Ewan DALMON getting the Colony goals.

The U15 Colts hosted Turriff Bombers on Sunday at Davidson and ran out 4-2 winners in an entertaining game. Once again Colts had to come from behind, but the Colts soon rallied though and equalised when Scott BEVERLEY beat the keeper in his trademark style.

Jamie MACIVER gave Colony the lead soon after and Colts controlled the rest of the half, with a fine Jamie REID finish beating the keeper from a narrow angle sending them in 3-1 up at half time. The weather turned cold and wet for the second half, Turriff scored from the penalty spot.

Colony came back into the game and Beverley could have had more goals were it not for the Turriff keeper. With 10 minutes left however Colts got the two goal cushion back when Jamie REID curled a great finish from 18 yards.

Colony Park U14s were at home against Huntly and came back from two goals down to win comfortably 7-4 with STRACHAN (2), MIDDLER (2), YOUNG, GRANT and FRASER on target for Colony.
