This was the third time Colony Park and Cruden Bay have met each other this season and this was the closest contest by far with Park winning 2-0.
Colony had a couple of enforced changes from the previous match with Stephen Hart suspended and Greg Dorrat unavailable due to work commitments.
Lewis Donald and Mathew McDonald came into the starting line-up. Colony Park also welcomed back Kevin Bonarius who has re-joined the club from Banks o Dee
The home side had the better of early exchanges with Brown forcing a save from the Cruden Bay keeper. In 12 minutes McGuinness hit a long pass forward to Mathew McDonald. The Cruden bay keeper hesitated in coming to take the ball and McDonald beat him to the ball and struck the ball into the net to give Colonythe lead.
Colony continued to attack and McDonald picked up a loose ball in 21 minutes and hit a good shot just passed the post. On the hour mark McDonald went down under a challenge in the Cruden Bay box but referee waved on play denying Colony a penalty.
The Bay came more into the game in the latter part of the first half with Duguid having to make a couple of good saves from the visitor’s Kevin Park. Duguid make a great double save just before half time ensuring Colony maintained their one goal advantage.
The action continued at the start of the second half with chances for both teams. In 52 minutes following a Colony Park corner the ball was picked up by Bobby Maitland He crossed to the back post where a Crosbie header just went over the bar. Just moments later McTavish went close when he picked up a Strachan cross but his shot just went passed the post. Colony continued to attack with chances for McDonald and Adam Maitland. In 66 minutes Roddie replaced McTavish and a couple of minutes later Bonarius replaced Donald.
In 74 minutes Cruden Bay had their best chance when the ball broke to Park in the six yard box.
His shot looked goal bound but Duguid flung himself to the left of his goal and brought off a brilliant save. A minute later Colony Park increased their lead. McDonald made a good run to hold the ball outside the box and laid the ball to Adam Maitland. Maitland turned and struck a great shot into the corner of the net to give Colony a two goal lead. Smith replaced Ritchie in 77 minutes.
This was a good win for Colony Park in a closely contested match.
Colony remain top of the Pmac League Division 2 with 19 points from eight games. The next fixture is away to local rivals Newmachar United on Saturday.
