COLONY Park Juniors won comprehensively against Fraserburgh United 8-1 to remain top and extend their lead in PMAC Div 1 (East). Significantly Jack Strachan completed his third hat trick in only four starts for the Inverurie side.

From the kick off Colony Park pressed and forced a corner in the opening minute. McDonald had a shot blocked from the corner by the Fraserburgh Utd defence.

In four minutes Colony took the lead when Matty McDONALD beat the Fraserburgh keeper in a race for the ball and from the edge of the box steered the ball into the net. Fraserburgh fought back and Brown made a great block just in front of goal to deny the visitors a goal. In 16 minutes Strachan headed over a cross by Roddie.

The match was now more even and Fraserburgh forced a couple of corners in quick succession which the Colony defence cleared. In 27 minutes Colony Park were reduced to ten men when Bonarius was shown a red card when he fouled the Fraserburgh forward and the referee adjudged him to have stopped a goal scoring opportunity. From the Free kick which followed grant Sim brought off a good save to maintain Colony’s lead.

In 32 minutes Sim brought off an excellent double save and from his clearance Colony Park went straight down to the other end and forced a corner. Colony had now adjusted to the system with ten men and a move between Strachan, Pugh and McDONALD ended with the latter scoring a second goal for himself and Colony.

A minute later it was three nil when Jack STRACHAN converted following a Roddie cross. Just on the stroke of half time Fraserburgh were also reduced to ten men and Colony were awarded a penalty which Calvin RODDIE stroked into the Fraserburgh net giving Park a four nil lead at half time. Fraserburgh were then reduced to nine men after an altercation with the referee as the teams left the pitch.

At the start of the second half Brown had a shot just wide before in 52 minute Colony Park extended their lead with the best goal of the game. It came from Ross CROSBIE who struck a superb free kick from 25 yards into the top corner of the Fraserburgh net. A minute later Crosbie had an opportunity to repeat his previous free kick but his shot was well saved low by the Fraserbugh keeper.

Fraserburgh created a couple of chances and scored at close range in 67 minutes to make the score 5-1.

Dorrat had a couple close chances while Fraserburgh had a chance from a free kick, before in 76 minutes Pugh hit a long ball to Jack STRACHAN who held off the Fraserbugh defender before hitting the ball into the net increasing Colony’s lead.

Barry PEDEN further increased Colony’s lead with a shot from the edge of the penalty area which went into the corner of the Fraserburgh net, and a minute later STRACHAN completed his hat trick when he picked a loose ball in the six yard box which he stabbed into the Fraserburgh goal. In the final minutes of the game match Dorrat and Strachan both almost added to the Colony total.

This was another excellent win for Colony Park who have now completed the first round of matches against their league rivals. At this point they lead PMAC Div 1 which is a testament to work put in by Co-managers Charlie Ferries and Andy Roddie to develop and improve the squad to play at a higher level.
