Formartine United boss Kris Hunter has continued his rebuilding plans by signing Scott Barbour from his former club Fraserburgh.

The 23-year-old striker is Hunter’s ninth new recruit since taking over at North Lodge Park at the end of last season.

And the manager has told the Times he is confident he now has the players in place to mount a strong challenge in the league and cups in the new campaign.

Barbour is regarded as one of the league’s top young talents and has joined Formartine in a four-year deal.

He said he was looking forward to joining up again with his former boss, adding that he had been disappointed when Hunter left Bellslea.

Hunter is delighted to have him on board.

He said; “Scott is the most exciting player in the league and he was one of our targets.

“It took a bit longer to get him in but it was worth the wait.

When Hunter took over at United he confirmed he had a list of signing targets and so far has managed to capture all but one.

He explained: “I was under no illusions about the rebuilding job that was needed here but it hasn’t phased me.

“We have the players capable of mounting a challenge on both league and cup fronts and we can’t wait for the new season to get started.”

Hunter admitted that his summer signing spree was not yet over and that he could yet bring in another two players.
