Formartine United finished off 2015 in style with a thumping 10-3 home win over Buckie Thistle on Monday.
Garry Wood was the hero, netting five including a 10-minute hat-trick, as United closed the gap on second-placed Cove Rangers to two points.
The Jags actually went in front before being swept aside as the Pitmedden side stormed back in a goal blitz which left the visitors reeling.
Taylor put Buckie in front in the 18th minute after keeper Andy Reid spilled a free kick.
But the lead lasted a minute as Paul Lawson slotted home a penalty.
Wood grabbed his first in the 22nd minute and then Barbour made it 3-1 before Wood claimed his hat-trick.
Wood fired home his fourth and Formartine’s sixth before the half-time whistle brought temporary relief to Buckie.
It was 7-1 in the 56th minute when Barbour netted his second of the match.
Wood made it eight two minutes later before Thistle pulled a goal back.
A Napier own goal made it 9-2 before Masson came off the bench to make it 10.
Angus added a third for Buckie with two minutes left.
Next up for Formartine is a visit to Keith on Sunday (January 3).
