A late winner for Bridge of Don Thistle proved Colony Park’s downfall in a match which they dominated for large periods but lost 2-1.
Park started brightly with an early shot by Dorrat saved by Burr Thistle’s keeper. In 10 minutes Colony took the lead when Dorrat held up the ball well before passing to Glenn GRAFFAN whose run and shot culminated in an excellent goal for the Inverurie side.
Colony were playing excellent football at this stage and a good move between Calvin Roddie, Keir and Brown ended with the latter shooting over the bar. Colony almost increased their lead in 33 minutes when from a Crosbie free kick the ball fell to Graffan but his shot from close range was brilliantly stopped by Burr who was keeping the Bridge of Don side in the match.
Just before half time Thistle equalised when the Colony defence failed to clear a long throw in into the box and GUNN connected with the ball and shot into the park net to make the teams level at the interval.
With the match finely poised Bridge of Don scored in 88 minutes when ROBERTSON scored from close range after Garden had made a great save form the first shot. Bonarius replaced Crosbie. A minute later McGuinness almost scored from close range for Colony Park but his shot was just wide of the post leaving Bridge of Don as winners.
This was a match in which Colony Park played some fine football and but for a brilliant display by Burr in goal for Bridge of Don they may have the match won by half time. However Bridge of Don hung on and in the end they registered their third win against Colony Park in the league.
