Formartine United returned to form with a 6-0 win at struggling Huntly on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Cammy Keith kept United in the hunt at the top of the table and the victory reflected the gap between the sides.

Three goals in each half sealed a comfortable victory for the Pitmedden men who had too much pace, guile and firepower for the Strathbogie club.

The game started with the pattern that was more or less sustained throughout - United moving the ball about with pace and precision as the home side tried to match them with well-intentioned endeavour.

Formartine, reverting to their more familiar 4-4-2 line-up, were doing most of the pressing and took the lead in the 20th minute from the penalty spot.

Keith was bundled off the ball by Dorrat and took the kick himself, sending Hobday the wrong way.

The visitors kept up the pressure and it only seemed a matter of time before the went further ahead.

But they had to wait until just before half time when Hay nodded in an Anderson cross and then Madle made it three when he took advantage of Hay’s head flick.

United started the second half where they had left off and were immediately 4-0 up.

McKeown fed Napier and his cross was headed home by Keith.

Huntly kept plugging away and had a couple of chances around the hour mark, but not enough to trouble Shearer.

In the 68th minute it was five, when Keith and Madle combined to create an opening for McVitie who nipped in at the back post to head home.

The scoring was completed when Anderson exchanged passes with McKay and then Smith before crossing for Keith to wrap up his hat-trick.

This was a good perfromance by Formartine and the scoreline was a fairly accurate reflection of their superiority.
