Kintore’s Lauren selected for Great Britain Ice Skating squad

Kintore ice skater Lauren Tough has recently been selected for the NISA’s (National Ice Skating Association) Regional Development Squad for Great Britain.

It makes it the third year in a row that the 11-year old Kintore Primary School pupil has made the squad.

Lauren as been ice skating since the age of six years old, where she began ice skating through NISA’s Skate UK programme at Aberdeen Linx Ice Arena, where she trains for many hours each week, under the watchful eye of her coach Ann Cronin.

She makes regular trips around the UK to train and compete and has just returned last week from NISA’s 1st Off Ice Training Camp of the season in Sheffield.

Lauren competed at the British Solo Ice Dance Championships in June this year, placing 9th overall in Primary Ladies and was the highest ranked Scottish female competitor in her category.

The National Ice Skating Association is the Governing Body for ice skating in the UK.

Its mission is to promote, develop and support all ice skating disciplines, within a safe and constructive environment that provides participants the opportunity to fulfil their potential and personal goals, within a recreational, fitness or competitive activity.
