Conditions test local anglers at Loch Insch

Fishing weighted lures was the way to go this past fortnight, here at Loch Insch Fishery, with anglers being tested to the full, with temperatures ranging from –6 to 15 degrees during this period.

B. Purcell from Buckie had a great day, returning 15 rainbows, when fishing an Ansizor and a Cat’s Whisker, Richard Ovington from Insch, returned eight after keeping two for just under 6lbs on Buzzzers and Neil Garden from Aberdeen, returned seven on a Cormerant.

Brothers B. & D. Gray from Largue shared eight rainbows, all falling to Buzzers, D. Reid from Aberdeen returned seven, fishing a Bunny Leech, and Alan Robertson from Huntly, kept one for 4lbs and returned a further five, which fell to various flies.

Sandy Linton from Aberdeen netted nine over two visits, on Diawl Bachs and a WSW, Fred McAlley from Dyce, returned five using various flies, and Jonathan Petrie from Aberdeen, returned four, all taken on a Blob.

Mike Cameron from Dyce returned three and was broken twice using weighted Buzzers, Kenny Maddocks from Aberdeen, netted three, keeping two for just under 6lbs, Peter Rolinson from Kemnay, returned three using a Blob and W. Bowers from Aberdeen, returned a couple of 3lbers which were also taken on a Blob.
