GASC do well at Peterhead

A STRONG team from the Garioch Amateur Swimming Club travelled to Peterhead in order to compete at the ND Age Group Championships, on Saturday and Sunday (March 3 and 4). The following swimmers won medals in their respective age groups:

Orla Adams (17): Gold 200 back,100 breast,200 breast, 400 IM, 200 IM, Silver 100 back, 100 fly, 400 free.

Robert Bryce (17): Gold 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 free, 1500 free, Bronze 200 fly, 100 fly, 200 IM, 100 free.

Shannon Crawford (12): Gold 200 back, Silver 100 back, Bronze 400 free.

Jessica Thomson (13): Silver 800 free

David Smith (19) Silver 1500 free

Ruth Bryce (15): Silver 800 free

Sarah Smith (17): Bronze 400 IM

Also reaching the finals were first time finalist Spencer O’Grady in the 100 back and Thomas Holmes in the 200IM. Peter Holmes, Christy Johnston and Rebecca Eggeling continued to achieve personal best times in their events with the distance swimming a particular feature for Garioch ASC with Robert Bryce getting a 30 second PB in the 1500 free and Jessica Thomson getting a 10 second PB in the 800free.

Certain swimmers also managed to gain further consideration times for the Scottish National Age Group Championships in April. These were Thomas Holmes in the 100 fly and 100 free, Shannon Crawford in the 100 free and 400 free, Jessica Thomson in the 100 back and 100 free and Jemma Grant, Findlay Douglas and Ruth Bryce in the 100 back.

A successful meet was had by all and could not have taken place without the coaching support from Eavan Adams, Carol Holmes, Mandi Crawford, Mary Bryce, Garry Holmes and the Garioch officials.
